Steel Frames

Precision Grinding has the facilities, the capacity, and the experience to manufacture structural steel frames for tables, platforms, pedestals, skids, and custom built machines.

The cross sections making up the frame columns for tables, pedestals, and platforms can be manufactured from light or heavy structural steel tubing or from small diameter, heavy-walled limited grade pipe, as well as from steel plate. Precision Grinding keeps a large inventory of A36 plate in stock ranging in thicknesses from 1/4" to 8".

Saw Cutting

Our steel fabrication department saw cuts columns made from pipe, tubing, and I-beams upon a DoAll Saw reaching over 20' lengths for 14" diameter and less. Larger widths are manually beveled, straight or otherwise torch cut or optionally coped or custom-shaped to size.

Welding and Fabricating

Using Continuous, Stick, MIG or TIG welding, steel tubing, beams, and/or pipes are welded into pre-engineered H-patterns. When manufacturing skids or platforms, sometimes we'll attach and weld a Blanchard ground "table top" plate. Often times, the table tops have flame-cut and ground shapes cut-out, as seen in the picture to the upper right. Other times, frames are manufactured complete from plate ranging in thickness from 1/2" - 4", rather than from tubing.

Once pre-ground, we drill or otherwise machine these bottom-, top- and side-frame plates on a bar mill or on one of our large CNC machines. Finally, we send completed tables and fabrications onto one of our larger Blanchard Grinders for a "within-tolerance" ground, surface finish prior to a final inspection.
