Precision Parallels

Among many applications, parallel risers are used to adjust the height of a die set within a press assembly. The height between the pair of die shoes or bolsters may need to be adjusted in order to produce smaller parts, thicker or taller parts, or simply to bring the workpieces closer to eye level. Parallels allow presses to be versatile manufacturing machines amongst an array of industrial machinery that produce tool and die cut parts.

The picture below and to the right shows standard dimensioned parallel rectangles that are surface ground to a 16 - 32 RMS surface ground finish. Our Mattison Vertical Spindle Reciprocal Surface Grinder can grind parts to 36" x 168" as tall as 24" while achieving flatness requirements to as close as .002" per foot and thickness & parallelism to as close as ±0.001 inch tolerances.
